Keweenaw Cooperative is a community-driven organization, and we rely on the dedication and creativity of our owners to help guide our future. We’re excited to invite owners to consider running for our Board of Directors and playing an active role in shaping the co-op they love.
Why Run for the Board?
Serving on the Board of Directors is a meaningful way to support the co-op’s mission and strengthen our local food system. Board service offers opportunities to:
- Support a thriving, sustainable, and community-owned grocery
- Work collaboratively with a passionate, values-driven team
- Build experience in governance, financial oversight, leadership, and owner representation
What Does a Board Member Do?
Board members play an essential role in guiding our co-op’s strategic direction by attending monthly meetings where they:
- Collaborate on setting long-term goals.
- Ensure community engagement and feedback.
- Contribute to financial oversight and planning.
Board Candidate Orientation Session
Interested in joining the Board? We will host an Orientation Session via Zoom where prospective board members can learn about the co-op and what the role entails. This session will be recorded for those who do not attend live.
How to Get Started
To become a board candidate:
- Email nominations@keweenaw.coop to express your interest
- Attend at least one board meeting
- Attend the orientation session
- Complete the required candidate paperwork
Application deadline: March 1
Not an Owner Yet?
Board members must be owners of Keweenaw Cooperative. Becoming an owner is easy and helps support a community-owned grocery that prioritizes local food, sustainability, and people over profit.
