The Forager & The Baker

Anna Sysling-Ranville & Andrew Ranville

The Forager & The Baker is a Keweenaw-based, small-batch food business founded by Anna Sysling-Ranville and Andrew Ranville. While they officially established the business in 2025, their journey began a few years earlier, selling together at local farmers markets starting in 2023.

They specialize in handcrafted granola made right here in the Keweenaw, along with dried chaga and seasonal, small-batch jams and jellies available at area farmers markets. Every granola flavor is thoughtfully made with no gluten-containing ingredients, no refined sugar, and no animal products—sweetened only with pure Keweenaw maple syrup from Danielson’s. Whenever possible, they source local and regional ingredients, including rosemary from Troemner Farms for their popular Rosemary, Walnut & Cherry granola.

Rooted in foraging, baking, and community connection, Anna and Andrew find deep satisfaction in working with their hands and contributing to the local food system. From gathering thimbleberries to baking trays of granola, their work reflects a commitment to real food, responsible sourcing, and meaningful relationships with growers and farmers throughout the region.

They’re always learning, always growing, and excited for what’s ahead—while staying grounded in what matters most: nourishing food and a strong, resilient local food community.
