On Saturday, November 15th, from 9a – 1p, Keweenaw Co+op and Breakwater Federal Credit Union will host a collaborative food drive to benefit the Western UP Food Bank. With the goal of filling 100 bags, this event will provide essential non-perishable items to families across the region.
Community members are encouraged to drop off non-perishable food items at Keweenaw Co+op during the event. For those unable to attend on Saturday, donations can also be made in advance at Breakwater Federal Credit Union.
The food drive carries the tagline “100 Bags, Endless Smiles”, reflecting the positive impact the community can make when working together. This collaborative effort also celebrates the International Year of Cooperatives, highlighting how cooperative organizations prioritize the well-being of their communities.
“We believe in taking care of our community,” said Ariele Pizzo, Marketing & Outreach Coordinator at Keweenaw Co+op. “We’re grateful to see our neighbors pitch in and come together to support one another. This food drive is a wonderful example of how cooperation and community care can make a real difference.”
“Collaboration is at the heart of what cooperatives do,” said Kayleigh White, Marketing & Community Relations Coordinator at Breakwater FCU. “By joining hands with Keweenaw Co+op, we’re not only making an impact locally, but also demonstrating the spirit of cooperation that strengthens our region.”
Together, Keweenaw Co+op & Breakwater invite the community to share in the cooperative spirit and make a meaningful difference through simple acts of giving.
