For the past 22 years, our community has come to know and trust that Keweenaw Cooperative is in the worthy hands of our General Manager, Curt Webb. He has embodied the values and the “familiar face” of our co-op, and he has provided the vision and hard work to help turn it into the valuable community asset that it is today.
And so it is with deep appreciation and regret that we announce that after a lifetime worth of service to the co-op community, Curt will be retiring soon. “It’s been an honor to be part of an organization focused on providing fresh, healthy food in the Keweenaw,” said Curt. “In the last 22 years, annual sales have grown from one million to eight million dollars, all due to the amazing support from our community. I thank the Board of Directors for the opportunity to have led the co-op through growth and positive change. I look forward to passing the baton to the future.”
The Board of Directors has established a search committee and is finalizing plans for the hiring process. Over the coming weeks, we will be working together to ensure an efficient and professional transition process to a new General Manager who will lead our co-op. Thanks to the work of Curt and the operations team, the Board believes we are well-positioned to identify a talented GM who will continue the co-op’s legacy of service to our community.
More details will be shared as the hiring process gets underway. We consider the hiring of a new General Manager to be some of the most significant work our board will undertake, and are keeping our co-op community in mind as we embark!
We thank you for your continued support and extend heartfelt thanks, appreciation, and congratulations to Curt on his retirement. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the Board of Directors at contactboard@keweenaw.coop.
